Youth Volunteer Corps Program

by Volunteer Airdrie Society

The Youth Volunteer Corps Program ("YVC Airdrie") is a free youth development program for ages 11-18. We create volunteer opportunities to address community needs and to inspire youth for a lifetime commitment to service.

Our Four Fundamental Goals:
1. To engage youth in service projects that are challenging, rewarding and educational.

2. To serve the unmet needs of the community and its residents.

3. To promote among youth a greater understanding and appreciation for the diversity of their community.

4. To promote a lifetime ethic of service among youth.

YVC Airdrie meets weekly and youth can choose to volunteer for community service projects of interest to them and which fit into their schedule. Volunteering can be done in groups or virtually. All activities are supervised by paid & trained staff that act as mentors for the youth, as they plan, execute and reflect on each community service project.

YVC Airdrie was awarded the New Affiliate of the Year Award in 2020 by Youth Volunteer Corps headquarters in Kansas City. We are one of 40 affiliates across North America in the YVC program, which was started in 1987.

In 2020, YVC Airdrie completed over 40 projects with its 56 members, totaling 750 hours of community service to 14 local non-profit agencies. Our membership currently stands at 69 members and our goal is to have 100 active members by the end of 2021.
