HABITAT FOR HUMANITY - CAMROSE SOCIETY

Organized in 1996 and completing their first home in 1997, the Habitat for Humanity – Camrose Society has just finished building homes number 44 and 45, all in Camrose, building our community and helping approximately 54 families purchase an affordable home.
ReStore was built and opened on May 29th, 2006, providing an outlet for new and gently used building materials, furniture and a myriad of other items while offering employment opportunities. ReStore is a Social Enterprise not a thrift store although we do get donations from various individuals we also get new product in from stores across the country as well. This store helps to fund the building of our homes.
Habitat for Humanity – Camrose Society works with lower income families in the Camrose area to provide affordable home ownership for those who would otherwise not be considered due to lack of down payment or not qualifying for a standard mortgage. Using donations, some volunteers in builds, and mortgage repayments, Habitat for Humanity is able to build more affordable housing and provide a subsidized mortgage for families.

Using local trades and products as much as possible is emphasized for all builds to keep the money spent on builds in our community as well as to help bring more stability to the Camrose communities with family as owners instead of renters.
