Help Provide Technology for Black Youth Leaders

Bright Lights For Africa Foundation, a Calgary-based nonprofit, is raising funds to provide tablets for youth graduating from the Programme Excellence Étoile Noire.
Through this program, young participants develop important life and professional skills in leadership, mentorship, public speaking, civic engagement, cultural pride, and academic growth. The program ends with the Prix Excellence Étoile Noire, a graduation and recognition ceremony that honours each youth’s commitment, perseverance, and personal growth.
For these young leaders, a tablet is more than a device. It is a tool for learning, creativity, connection, and opportunity. Reliable technology helps youth complete schoolwork, access online learning platforms, participate in virtual workshops and mentorship sessions, build digital portfolios, and grow the digital skills needed for today’s world.
We are beginning this fundraiser with a starting goal of $2,800 to help us purchase the first tablets and accessories for our graduates. Our full campaign goal is $7,000, which would allow us to provide tablets for 10 youth graduates. As the campaign grows, the goal may increase so we can continue moving toward supporting the full graduating cohort.
Every donation makes a difference:
$700 can sponsor one tablet for one young leader.
$3,500 can support five youth graduates.
$7,000 can equip all 10 graduates with educational technology.
Any contribution helps us get closer to ensuring that no graduate is left without a tool to carry their success forward.
