We host the Writers' Guild of Alberta's Annual General Meeting in conjunction with a conference of day of professional development. Conferences typically include keynote speeches from prominent authors and publishing professionals, panel discussions on issues in the writing world, workshops, networking sessions, and the Alberta Literary Awards Gala. Writers who attend our conferences have excellent experiences for learning, professional growth, and networking.
Our latest conference was held at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Calgary June 3 - 4, 2016. Here's what writers had to say about their experiences:
"As a new member of the WGA, this was my first conference. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and it was a great way to meet others in the Alberta writing community."
"There were many opportunities to network, to get outside, to chat with different groups. The keynote speakers and the varied topics of the workshops provided many interesting discussion points."
"I had a wonderful day. I loved the venue and services provided. I no longer live in Calgary, so it was great to re-connect with old friends, familiar faces, and make new friends."
"The BEST experience in a workshop EVER! I feel as though doors were opened and [the instructor] provided structure for me to move forward with my poetry with long strides instead of little steps."
