EDUCATIONMATTERS

EducationMatters was founded in 2003, under the name of Calgary Board of Education Foundation, by the CBE Trustees, senior staff and community leaders who believed that the best education happens when the community participates in its development. In 2005, the name was legally changed to EducationMatters. Since inception, EducationMatters has provided CBE with more than $37 Million in educational enhancement support and student awards and built a dedicated endowment of almost $8M.

Our programs and initiatives are the foundation for success for many Calgary Board of Education students. EducationMatters' primary areas of funding interest are:

Essentials for Learning
• providing fundamental necessities such as food, school supplies, warm clothing and transit passes for students and families experiencing financial insecurity or hardship.
• supporting student well-being as a foundation for sustained engagement and high school completion

Extraordinary Experiences
• supporting learning, creativity and real-world exploration through programs that inspire curiosity and expand students' educational experiences beyond the classroom

Preparing for the Future
• removing barriers to Dual Credit and Exploratory programs, and Skills Competitions, that provide students with hands-on, experiential and authentic programming and equipment, helping students graduate with confidence, credentials, and a clear path to their future
