Rocky Mountain Adaptive (RMA) was founded in 2009 with a powerful vision: to increase self-esteem, independence, physical health, mental well-being, and a sense of belonging in the community for individuals living with physical, neuro-divergent, or sensory challenges. Our mission is simple yet profound: to provide accessible, inclusive, and life-changing outdoor sport and recreation opportunities in the Canadian Rockies for all individuals, regardless of ability.

At RMA, we are committed to breaking down barriers related to cost, accessibility, and transportation, ensuring that all Canadians have the opportunity to safely engage in activities that promote health, confidence, and social connection. Rocky Mountain Adaptive offers a proven solution. Our programs provide over 20 adaptive sports and recreation activities for people of all ages and abilities—from beginners to competitive athletes. In the past year, we delivered over 3,000 adaptive experiences to 1,200 participants. We offer activities year-round, including skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, paddling, climbing, golfing and more.

Our programs are designed to increase self-confidence, physical health, and social integration, and they deliver measurable results. Nearly 100% of participants report wanting to continue with our programs, and over 80% report improvements in confidence, happiness, and self-esteem. Participants often describe the life-changing impact of these activities, with one individual sharing, “Participating in this program really helps lift the lid on my capabilities and helps grow my confidence.”
