Bright Lights for Africa Foundation (BLFA) is a charitable, non-profit organization operating in both Canada and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). We empower marginalized communities by addressing critical needs, fostering resilience, and promoting self-sufficiency.

In Canada, our work centers on supporting Francophones of African descent through culturally sensitive programs that break systemic barriers, enhance well-being, and create pathways to long-term success.

Why Musenge? Why Now?

At Bright Lights For Africa Foundation (BLFA), we believe that connection is dignity. In Musenge — a remote, conflict-affected village in eastern DRC — nearly 2,000 people live in complete digital isolation.

No phone service
No electricity
No road access
For decades, this community has been cut off by violence, poverty, and neglect. When recent conflict forced families to flee, they couldn’t call for help, access news, or even confirm if loved ones were alive. They were completely disconnected.

Now, as families return, the need for connection is urgent — and you can help meet it.

Through the Connect Musenge initiative, we are raising $25,000

to install a solar-powered, satellite Wi-Fi hub in Musenge Centre — delivering the first-ever internet connection to this essential community hub. This connection will restore communication, unlock access to education and health services, and support local leadership in rebuilding a future.

End digital isolation in one of the world’s most neglected areas

What Your Support Will Do

With just $25,000, we can:

Install satellite internet and solar power ($11,700): Bring high-speed Wi-Fi and off-grid energy to the heart of Musenge.
Build a safe, community internet hub ($4,500) : Create a public space with seating, lighting, and charging stations.
Cover one year of internet access ($3,600): Guarantee uninterrupted service to ensure consistent connection.
Train youth, support access, and coordinate locally ($5,200): Train local youth, provide free/low-cost access for vulnerable groups, and manage the hub sustainably.
